The crew of the USS Celt will be throwing a "blue nose" party this Saturday evening, January 1st. It's a way for members of the chapter to celebrate (a late) Christmas and the New Year together.
If approved by the membership, it could replace the December and January regular meetings, since many are already over-scheduled with Christmas parties and other events for family, work, church, etc. The concept is that of a decidedly casual, laid-back gathering after all the hustle, hurry and stress that can accompany some Christmas and New Year's Eve gatherings. And the timing is such that everything else is over with except for college bowl games.
There will be a gift exchange game for those who would like to participate, where each person brings a wrapped present valued somewhere between five and ten dollars. Gifts are in turn opened one at a time, swiped, swapped and frozen as they make their way around the room.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring any movies or games they think their friends might enjoy. And no party like this would be complete without food. From snacks to mealtime food, it'll be there. This all goes right along with the theme of the kind of indoor fun people like to have when staying out of the cold and keeping their nose from turning blue.
